Her Place in the Beginning
According to Kikuyu oral tradition, Gĩkũyũ and Mũmbi established their home at Mũkũrwe wa Nyagathanga and became the ancestral parents of the Agĩkũyũ. Their daughters occupy a central place in the tradition. Wanjirũ is remembered among these daughters, from whom the principal Kikuyu clans trace their ancestry.

From Wanjirũ to Anjirũ
The ancestral name Wanjirũ is associated with Anjirũ, one of the principal Agĩkũyũ clans. Kikuyu clan identity reaches back through the daughters in the origin tradition, giving women's names a foundational place within the wider story of Agĩkũyũ ancestry and belonging.
